Blockchain researcher Vlad Zamfir has released a proof-of-concept for the long-awaited integration of sharding into the Ethereum ($ETH) network. With the help of several other developers, the code was written during a hackathon at EthBerlin earlier this week. Sharding, which has been researched extensively by Zamfir, is an important tool aimed at scaling Ethereum by splitting data across multiple nodes. While the code is currently available for review on GitHub, sharding is a long way from production ready and the proof-of-concept is more of an excercise in converting existing specs into code for educational purposes.
