The Evolution of Blockchain-Based Music

Ever since the advent of blockchains, various companies and individuals have tried to port music onto blockchains. Ujo Music, a venture by ConsenSys, was one of the first attempts at creating a decentralized music platform. Projects like Musiconomi, Bittunes, and Revelator all started experimenting with bridging music and crypto as early as 2013. However, to date, no crypto-based music application has received significant traction. All seems to have launched too early. But perhaps the 2020s will yield different results for porting music onto blockchains.
