The Decentralized Science Ecosystem: Building a Better Research Economy

The current scientific research economy incentivizes prestige capture at the expense of transparency and innovation. In response, the decentralized science movement introduces novel coordination, incentivization, and verification mechanisms to sustain and disseminate open science. There are 85 DeSci projects in operation today, with more than 50% launching in the past year. These projects represent opportunities for builders, investors, researchers, and community members to participate in growing economies and further the development of public goods.

Stephanie graduated with a BSc in Psychology and began her career in startup operations and consultancy. Prior to joining Messari, she specialized in crypto technical communications. She was an early member of Messari's Diligence Team with ownership over product design, project management, and research quality. She produced and oversaw professional cryptoasset due diligence reports and helped scale the team to 20+ members. On the Enterprise Research team, Stephanie is best known for her work on validator decentralization, scaling, and the modular blockchain landscape.

Stephen is Messari's Research Editor. After graduating from Cairn University with a BA in English and a minor in education, he worked as an editor for a multidisciplinary journal before joining Messari. He enjoys reading anything and everything, so long as it's well-written.
