Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) will launch a new cryptocurrency venture in November called Bakkt, and has announced partnerships with Starbucks and Microsoft. According to a Starbucks VP for Payments: "Starbucks will play a pivotal role in developing practical, trusted and regulated applications for consumers to convert their digital assets into US dollars for use at Starbucks."
&nbsp Bakkt will initially offer "physically settled" one-day futures on Bitcoin, meaning contract owners will receive $BTC upon settlement instead of cash. Short-dated options may help retailers manage crypto payments while reducing volatility risk.
