A total of 22 Russian cryptocurrency ATMs have been seized at the request of the country’s central bank. The ATM provider, BBFpro, claims it had recieved no prior notice of any inquiries about their devices, which operate in bars and shopping malls across nine cities. While the central bank did not comment on the issue directly a representative noted that the regulator performs systematic actions to determine and correct illegal financial activities. Furthermore, according to the representative, the chance for uncontrolled cross-border transfers brings the risk of cryptocurrency involvement in illegal financial activities.
