Messari donates $70,000 to COVID-19 Relief via Binance Charity & The Giving Block

We’re happy to announce more details regarding the proceeds of our donation from Mainnet by Messari.

All told, we were able to donate $70,000 (paid in BTC) to COVID-19 relief efforts with the help of our partners at Binance Charity and The Giving Block!

Sincere thanks to the 200+ speakers and 1,300+ attendees who participated in our inaugural virtual event and, ultimately, came out to support a good cause. Remember that you can relive the entire event at messari.io/mainnet2020!

Now, here’s a bit more on the charitable efforts of our partners.

Binance Charity

Following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in China, Binance Charity, the blockchain-based charity platform and official philanthropic arm of Binance, launched the “Binance for Wuhan'' project. This initiative funded the purchase of medical supplies needed in the battle against the virus in China. As the virus spread around the world, Binance Charity launched Crypto Against COVID to support healthcare workers with the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) in over 15 countries [learn more here].

Messari has donated $35,000 of the Mainnet proceeds to support the Crypto Against COVID campaign.

The Giving Block

Founded by Alex Wilson and Pat Duffy, The Giving Block makes it easy for nonprofits to accept cryptocurrency donations and for crypto users to donate in a more tax efficient way. .

With their help, we allocated $35,000 BTC to four nonprofits:

• International Medical Corps - a global humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering [donate crypto]
• No Kid Hungry - a national campaign run by Share Our Strength - a nonprofit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world [donate crypto]
• She’s The First - a nonprofit with local organizations across 11 countries that works to ensure that girls are educated, respected, and heard. [donate crypto]
• mRelief - a nonprofit startup working to help people gain access to social services and eat with dignity [donate crypto]
