According to local reports, the government of LIthuania is currently in the process of imposing new policies to provide legal certainty to crypto exchanges and businesses by tightening regulatory frameworks pertaining to money laundering prevention. The government has said that it wants to create a transparent and a legal environment for crypto-related startups. "We want to create a transparent legal environment for virtual currency exchanges, depository wallet operators and ICO initiators. We also want to contribute to ensuring better consumer protection," Sigitas Mitkus, director of the Finance Ministry's financial market policy department, said. The increasing efforts of the government of Lithuania and other emerging cryptocurrency markets to better regulate the cryptocurrency exchange market would reduce the concerns of regulators in regard to the lack of overseas regulation on cryptocurrency trading.
