Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz called for a shutdown of cryptocurrencies, according to CNBC. Stiglitz said he worries that digital assets facilitate criminal behavior, and, on CNBC television, said he "thinks we should shut down the cryptocurrencies." Part of a better economy for Stiglitz includes having real-time data on "what people are spending" instead of an economy brought into "the shadows" like cryptocurrencies allegedly do.
