GitHub starts blocking developers in countries facing US trade sanctions

Crimea based Russian citizen Anatoliy Kashkin learned that GitHub was restricting his account due to due to "US trade controls" leading to the discovery that GitHub is now restricting access for those based in countries under U.S. sanctions. GitHub, the platform used by many open source developers, was acquired by Microsoft last year. The new restrictions apply to users in Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Syria.
