Cubans are skirting U.S. sanctions with Bitcoin: Report

Cuban citizens are cut off from conventional international payment systems and financial markets, which makes obtaining credit or debit cards on the island (as well as using them abroad) especially difficult. To circumvent these frustrations, a growing number of Cubans are turning to digital currencies and online market places that support them, Retuers reports. Alex Sobrino, founder of the Telegram channel CubaCripto where Cubans debate and trade digital currencies, said he estimated some 10,000 Cubans were using them.
