Bitmain has suspended mining at its Rockdale, Texas facitility east of Austin. Converting a former aluminum smelter, Bitmain’s arrival was a God send for the small town which boasts low energy costs and excellent industrial infrastructure. Bitmain announced its move to Rockdale when the Bitcoin price stood at $8,000 per coin, but has closed multiple mining facilities due to the price collapse. All but three employees have been laid off for the time being.
