🔌 Bitmain announces transparency policy, begins sharing hashrate data

Mining hardware producer Bitmain announced plans to provide monthly updates on the hashrate controlled by its in-house mining operations in addition to sharing policies around the use of hardware before release to the public, mining empty blocks, and a promise to provide details on the number of units sold to the public. According to CCN even if all the SHA256 hardware disclosed is used for Bitcoin ($BTC) mining it only equates to four percent of the hashrate for the network. Bitmain's mining pool subsidiaries account for nearly half of all Bitcoin hashrate, though pool operators do not fully control the underlying miners.
