👾 Bithumb recovers nearly half of stolen funds from June hack

In a report published earlier today, Bithumb disclosed the full scope of a June 20th, 2018 breach that allowed hackers to steal 35 billion KRW (~$31 million) worth of 11 different cryptoassets. After coordinating with other exchanges, where the hackers attempted to sell stolen tokens, Bithumb was able to recover 45% of the funds, bringing the total theft to 19 billion KRW (~$17 million). Withdrawals remain suspended but users are able to trade on the platform as the company continues to hold most funds in cold storage. Bithumb has promised to compensate users impacted by the hack from its $450 million reserve fund. Assets impacted by the hack include: $BTC $BCH $ELF $ETH $ETHOS $GNT $HSR $KNC $OMG $VEN $XRP
