Australia recently proposed an ambiguous technology surveillance law that has drawn great scrutiny for having the potential to undermine privacy and cybersecurity. The Assistance and Access Bill proposes three key powers that would allow a company to โvoluntarily help,โ require a company to give assistance if they are able to, and require a company to build tools that would help the police as long as encryption is not broken. Blockchain developers are wary of of how decentralized apps would fare under this legislation.
