The 2017 crypto bubble is often cast aside as just that: a bubble. Looking at the broader economic picture, Jill Carlson sees it as the logical end of the "global search for yield." With interest rates across the world held lower and lower, individuals have been searching for hedge asset classes. Crypto stands at the far end of the risk spectrum and perhaps was a final capital dump in the great global search. The collapse of crypto over 2018 could be categorized as an end of the search with 2019 to prove the validity of this assertion.
