Two lines in Facebook's Libra white paper hint at the creation of a digital identity system, according to CoinDesk's Ian Allison. Digital identities remain a sticky issue with most providers needing a third party to handle documentation and verification. Libra, using cryptographic and 2FA techniques, could create a dominant online standard. Any system built, Allison argues, would be decentralized and portable, but lack self-sovereignty features. It's becoming clear Libra is more than a cryptocurrency protocol.
