The problem with today’s digital archipelagos is that they’re constructed upon the rulesets of the few companies that own the internet as they keep users inside their communities. Sub-communities can form but are often fragile. &nbsp On the contrary, the ideology of public-blockchain-based systems is free and open. More importantly, these networks can resist the influence of external forces. Even if blockchain networks don't become the mainstream, they are still a net positive for creating free and open communities.
