Even if Bitcoin is the currency that no government controls, the government will still try to collect taxes on it. Barron's Ross Snel explains that the IRS continues to intensify its investigative efforts to cut down on cryptocurrency owners tax evasion. The IRS says it started sending letters to more than 10,000 taxpayers who own virtual currencies instructing them to review their returns and amend them when necessary. Even if Bitcoin or some other cryptocurrency will unseat fiat money in the future, the tax man still cometh.
