SendFriend, a startup focused on remittances, announced closure of a $1.7 million fundraising round from MIT Media Lab, MasterCard Foundation, Barclays, and Ripple. SendFriend leverages the RippleNet international payment system to provide easy access and low fees to remittance customers. SendFriend is working toward 65% lower fees than the international average.
