💰$1 Billion dollars worth of cryptocurrency stolen in 2018

According to a new report from crypto intelligence firm CipherTrace a total of $927 million worth of cryptoassets were stolen during 2018 and if the trend continues that number will reach $1 billion by year-end. Some of the most notable thefts happened early in the year including the $530 million Coincheck hack and $195 million lost by BitGrail. Other notable thefts including Bancor, which lost $23.5 million due to a breach in a smart contract, and the 51% attack on Bitcoin Gold that netted thieves in excess of $18 million.
