Venice Project Update
Get Caught Up
Video Generation Goes Live
Venice launched AI video generation across its platform, enabling both text-to-video and image-to-video creation for all users 1. The feature integrates multiple open-source and proprietary models, including OpenAI's Sora 2, Google's Veo 3.1, and Kling 2.5 Turbo, alongside Venice's private WAN-based models, with support for durations of 4 to 12 seconds and resolutions up to 1080p 1. This matters because it expands Venice beyond text and image into a higher-compute modality, and the team built a new credit system to support the "scalable economics" of video generation 2.
Web Scraping and Usage-Based API Pricing
Web scraping is now live across the Venice app and API, allowing users to convert any URL into usable AI context, with automatic detection and processing of up to three URLs per request 3. Alongside this, Venice introduced usage-based pricing for web search and web scraping API calls effective Oct. 30, 2025, set at $10 per 1,000 calls for supported models and $25 per 1,000 calls for other models 3. This is significant because it introduces a direct, metered revenue mechanism tied to API consumption rather than flat subscriptions.
Model Deprecations
Venice announced the deprecation of several models, citing low usage or the availability of better alternatives 4. The models flux-dev and flux-dev-uncensored were deprecated on Oct. 22, 2025, while a broader set—including deepseek-r1-671b, llama-3.1-405b, and stable-diffusion-3.5—was deprecated on Sep. 22, 2025 4. This reflects ongoing consolidation of the model lineup toward higher-performing options.
